What is Proms in The Paddock?

Proms in the Paddock is a unique and hugely popular event that is brought to you each summer by Commercial Square Bonfire Society, supported by Herbert Scott. It all takes place in 'The Paddock', a long established playing field in the heart of Lewes, surrounded by beautiful trees and overlooked by Lewes' historic castle.

Gates open at 3pm when you'll be able to find the ideal spot in the Paddock and grab a pint and something to eat from the cake and BBQ stands. From 4pm you will be entertained by our great musical line up, consisting of the 'The Lewes Glynde and Beddingham Brass Band' plus a number of special guests.

This year, we are fortunate to be joined by three such guests, Fat Belly Jones, Rock Choir and School's Out. Read more about our Bands on the Bands page

What Else is there to do?...

There's plenty to do before the music starts and during the intervals. CSBS run an excellent bar where you can stock up with Harveys, Cider, Pimms and a range of wines and spirits.

We run a BBQ stall where you can buy tasty burgers and sausages supplied by Richards Butchers of Lewes. Tea and coffee is on sale along with a great selection of cakes.

There's also plenty of attractions to keep the kids busy including a tombola, sideshows and a sweet shop, plus a large open space for them to run around in.

Schools Out

Schools Out

School's Out is a covers band based in the South of England, made up entirely of teachers, and their name perfectly captures their spirit — celebrating the joy of being “out of school” and playing the songs you forgot you loved. With vibrant energy and spot-on performances, they bring new life to classic hits that take audiences back to those unforgettable moments. This year, they’re especially delighted to be playing at Proms in the Paddock, where they’ll share their passion for timeless tunes and create a night full of nostalgia and fun. Whether it’s a rock anthem or a hidden gem, School’s Out makes every show a joyful trip down memory lane for fans old and new!

LGB Brass in 2022

Lewes Glynde and Beddingham Brass

The Lewes, Glynde & Beddingham Brass Band (LGB for short) is based at the All Saints Centre in Lewes. We are a traditional brass band with a wide ranging repertoire. You’ll hear everything from traditional marches (like the ones we play in the Lewes Remembrance Parade) to virtuosic solos, original brass band music, orchestral transcriptions, music from stage and screen and pop songs. We play at local fetes and weddings as well as Eastbourne Bandstand and put on our own concerts. All the details are on our website https://www.lgbbrass.co.uk . The main band welcomes new players and particularly percussionists.

We also have a thriving group for learners called BrassSparks. Qualified brass music teachers help those that want to learn to play a brass instrument and also offer a chance to play in an ensemble. You can sign up for our quarterly newsletter on our website.
